Zeroine Savagnin 'Ju-Sa', Arbois, Jura, France 2020
Zeroine Savagnin 'Ju-Sa', Arbois, Jura, France 2020
A ‘topped-up’ Jura Savagnin made by Maylis Bernard, who just so happens to be Jean-Francois Ganevat’s partner, so the wine is made under his watchful eye at his cellars in Rotalier. It comes from the lieu dit ‘Bodines’ in Arbois and was fermented and aged in 500-litre barrels for 24 months. It’s a free-spirited wine, unfiltered, and made with minimal intervention. 13.5% alc. Unfiltered, unfined. Drink now-2030.
Press review:
The Wine Advocate: “The 2020 Ju-Sa is an exception in the collection of six different wines she has produced, because this one carries the Arbois appellation, as it comes from a small vineyard in the Arbois village and is vinified and aged in the Jura. The wine has a cloudy colour, a wild nose and 13.5% alcohol. The palate is very tasty, with notes of wild herbs, and there's a salty twist in the finish. The back label has a kind of declaration of intentions: "Je suis un vin vivant, libre, sensible ... conventionnellement incorrect." Enough said!” 93 points
