It may sound simplistic, but the great thing about this wine is that it makes you want to drink it. Some wines make you think, some wines make you emotional, some wines make you cry (usually Bordeaux, when you realise how much you’ve spent). This lively, bright-as-a-button Grenache Blanc from high-altitude vineyards in Aragon is just a wonderfully refreshing white wine with notes of lime blossom and crushed stones on the nose and lemon barley water and chalk on the palate, handled with a light touch, so it comes in at a very palatable 12.5% alcohol and is the perfect brow-cooler for when you don’t want to think, you just need a drink. The Wine Advocate: “The 2023 Botijo Blanco, pure Garnacha Blanca from limestone soils, fermented in concrete and matured in underground concrete vats for seven months. It has a moderate 12.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.25 and is varietal with notes of dried herbs, hay, straw and waxy apples.
