"This is truly outstanding and great value too." - The Wine Advocate, 94+ points

A Monastrell from ungrafted (pié franco) vines, which feels as comfortable as a slipping a naked foot into a lambswool slipper. In the glass it pours a beautiful, saturated, dark ruby colour, suggesting good natural ripeness (it's a good sign when the colour goes all the way to the rim). It feels and tastes like a Mediterranean 'grand cru', with wonderfully polished tannins, great length and layers of silky complexity, displaying warm plum skins, burnt orange peel, morello cherry and something very pretty and floral that rises from its supple depths. It's comparable to a top-flight Chateauneuf-du-Pape in all respects except the price! 14.5% alc. Sealed with beeswax. Drink now-2030.

Organic (certified). Biodynamic (certified).

Press reviews:

The Wine Advocate: "This comes from two plots of very old ungrafted vines planted with a Monastrell-based field blend that contains other varieties (Moravia Agria, Forcallat, Blanquilla and Rojal, etc.) at 960 metres in altitude on limestone gravel and sandy soils planted between 1954 and 1956. This vintage is the first that is certified biodynamic. It has good ripeness, 14.5% alcohol and developed aromas and flavours. This year they didn't do any maceration, and the wines have more elegance. It's precise, clean and pure, with energy, aromatic and floral, juicy and Mediterranean (blood orange, pomegranate) with a powerful palate, wide and long, with aromatic herbs and a tender texture but with austerity and more marked tannins and a dry chalky finish. This has balance and the stuffing to develop in bottle. This is truly outstanding and great value too. One of the most exciting new names in the Mediterranean part of Spain. Drink now-2030." 94+ points

Jamie Goode (on the 2022 vintage): "This is from a single vineyard in the mountains, and it’s sort of Monastrell meets Nebbiolo in style. So supple and fresh with lovely fine-grained tannins. Quite silky but also possessing good structure under the fresh red fruits. Stony, mineral and bright with purity and good acidity. Profound." 96 points
