Pietro Caciorgna 'Nanticchia', Etna Rosso, Sicily, Italy 2019
“This is one of the most beautiful wines made on Etna today.” - The Wine Advocate
Pietro Caciorgna’s Nanticchia 2019 has one of the most sensational aerobatic displays of aroma of any red wine that we know! It’s a looping parabola of peach and apricot fuzz, plum skins, cherry blossom, terracotta, tomato and a heady whiff of the crater rim. Surely the ultimate expression of Etna Rosso. Its pale colour, like the first wash of a watercolourist’s sunset, and its sylphlike texture belie a palate that is packed with sweetly succulent summer pudding fruits, set against an impression of cold embers and crushed pumice rocks. If you like headily aromatic Italian reds, whether Nebbiolo or Ruchè or Pinot Nero, then this has to be on your list of ‘must buys’ and even at £44.00 a bottle is an absolute steal. Give us this over any Barolo any day. It’s just sensational! Sourced from 100 year-old ungrafted Nerello Mascalese vines in the Contrada Marchesa near Passopisciaro. 14% alc. 18 months in oak. Drink now-2028.

Customer Comments:
“I took that Nanticchia to my roof yesterday for comet viewing. Holy cow the bouquet on that! I LOVED it. Thanks for the recommendation.” - Mr. I.N.
”We're much more familiar with Tuscany and Piedmont, don't know the South that well - tried the 'Nanticchia' over the week-end and we were very impressed. Sometimes nice to taste blind as one tastes the wine for what it is, not what it should be, but the nose was immediately striking. In a very good way, thank you for including it. “ - Mr. J. E.
