Many people say they like poetry, but few actually read it. Similarly, many people say they like Portuguese wine, but few actually drink it. However, we encourage you not to overlook this richly rewarding, well-priced blend of local Portuguese varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. It has an aromatic uplift of purple flowers, shiny blackcurrants, blackberries laced with blood orange and some spice notes from the grape skins. Aged for four years in stainless steel and 12 months in bottle, the tannins are gentle and poised and the fruit is bright, juicy and delicately fragranced. Well worth a try and very good value. 13.5% alc. Drink now-2028.

Press Reviews (previous vintage):

Decanter Magazine:Crafted by architect-turned-winemaker Joaquim Almeida, this Douro red’s chiselled minerality and transparency of fruit reflects his hands-off approach and lets the local varieties and schist soils speak for themselves. Aged for four years in stainless steel and 12 months in bottle (no oak!), the tannins are soft and poised, supporting the plum, red cherry and blood orange flavours with ease. Simply delicious.” 93 points
