Rave reviews from four - yes four - Masters of Wine (see below)!
There is a direct link between great Pinot Noir and the medial collateral ligaments of your knees. It’s true, I’ve witnessed it myself! Whenever someone tries our Te Muna Road Pinot Noir 2021, they visibly buckle. Their pulse may also quicken and their heart may skip a beat, but these have yet to be clinically proven. However, going weak at the knees is a known symptom caused by great Pinot Noir. You have been warned.
The ‘Te Muna Road’ 2021 from Craggy Range is a Pinot Noir with just the right amount of bottle age, so it’s gloriously mellow and silky in texture, ideal for drinking now - if you read the rave reviews from the Masters of Wine below, you will notice that the texture is repeatedly referenced (“cashmere tannins”, “flowing”, “silky”). On the nose there are jewel-like glints of grenadine, violets and orange peel, which shimmer amid the richer flavours on the palate, where we discovered wild strawberry, morello cherry, poached rhubarb and just a hint of something herbal and earthy, like shiso leaf or matcha tea. It actually reminds us of our hugely popular ‘premier cru’ red Burgundy from earlier this year, the Mercurey-Sazenay 2019 from Genot-Boulanger, which proved to be an enormous hit among the Vin Cognoscenti. I think this wine will raise a similar amount of good cheer and at just the right time of year too! 13% alc. 30% whole bunch. 25% new oak. Drink now-2030.
Press reviews (from four Masters of Wine!):
