“Exceptionally refined.” - Decanter, 95 points

“This fantastic rendition of Vorberg will thrive in a cold cellar.” - Vinous, 94 points

Not all of our discoveries are made along the dusty road. We discovered this gorgeous Pinot Bianco, not while strolling through vineyards in the foothills of the Italian Alps, but on a cold winter’s night in Pimlico. We asked the sommelier at the excellent Lorne Restaurant to suggest something interesting and she didn’t hesitate in putting this forward. It’s that typically stylish Italian white, which demands that you give it your full attention, because it doesn’t ring a noisy cowbell of aromas, but offers quiet and subtle flavours that are somehow evocative of alpine scenery, such as pineberry, daisies, green apple, camomile, fresh cream and, of course, edelweiss. Enjoy with spicy fish soup, mussels au gratin, spaghetti allo scoglio, lobster. 14% alc. Drink now-2035.

Press review:

Decanter: “Initially quite shy, flinty notes emphasised by extended lees aging overlay candied lemon peel, spontaneous herbs, camomile, salted butter, and a varietal nutty touch. Mouthwatering acidity runs deftly through the viscous structure, camouflaging the substantial mid-palate weight and rendering an almost deceptive impression of tautness. Exceptionally refined and mineral-driven, with a chalky sensation echoing on the slightly grippy finish, this needs at least a couple of years of bottle ageing to show best. Drink now-2039.” 95 points

Vinous: “The 2021 Pinot Bianco Vorberg Riserva is youthfully coiled, as an airy blend of wild herbs and dried flowers gives way to young peach and apricot. This is seamlessly silky and serene on the palate, nearly oily in feel, with brisk acidity to balance and depths of ripe orchard fruits and mineral tones that saturate. The balance is perfect, lightly tannic and full of tension with a lemony concentration that puckers the cheeks as minty herbal tones fade. Green apple notes add a crunchy sensation toward the close. This fantastic rendition of Vorberg will thrive in a cold cellar. Drink now-2034.” 94 points
