Chablis ‘Vallée de Valvan’, Henri Costal, France 2022
Chablis ‘Vallée de Valvan’, Henri Costal, France 2022
The vineyards for this Chablis lie between ‘Montmains’ and ‘Vaillons’, which, if you know your Chablis climats, are both highly-renowned ‘Premier Crus’. It goes some way towards explaining the concentration, minerality and length on display here, which are notably greater than you would expect from a regular Chablis, albeit a lieu-dit. It’s classically flinty, with bags of energy and texture, skipping daintily across the palate with notes of juicy lime, lemon cream and warm hay. 12.5% alc. Drink now-2028.
Organic (certified).
Winemaker’s tasting notes: This cuvée embodies the pure and crystalline expression of Chablis. Its pale yellow hue with green reflections, delicate bouquet featuring citrus and white flower notes, perfectly harmonises with its mineral character. Lovely overall harmony with remarkable power and length. It pairs perfectly with seafood, oysters, grilled fish or escargots. Best enjoyed at 10-12°C. Our Chablis "Vallée de Valvan" is a ready-to-drink wine with a recommended aging of 5 to 7 years.
