“Damned fascinating! This is one of - if not the - finest Syrah I have ever tasted from limestone soils.” -The Wine Advocate, 95 points

Many wine merchants put famous brands on their website, like Whispering Angel or Chocolate Block, in a bid to lure punters onto their site. Not wanting to be left out, we are getting involved in this whole ‘click bait’ thing and have popped this Austrian Syrah from the Niederösterreicher subzone of Carnuntum onto our website. So, now we just sit back and watch the orders roll in! Kerr-ching!

Hello? Anyone there? Oh, hello! Well, we were expecting a few more people, to be honest, but thank you for showing up. Your reward is one of the best value wines on our website. It’s a dark and glossy Syrah, in the style of a northern Rhone Cornas, packed with shiny black and purple fruits, enlivened by juicy tangerine acidity, which keeps it brisk and moreish. The tannins are woven silk and Syrah’s classic notes of white pepper and blueberry emerge on the clean, lip-smacking finish. It could easily be mistaken for a great Syrah from one of the top exponents of the grape, such as Stephane Ogier or Vincent Paris. Enjoy with ‘hunter’ or ‘forager’ dishes, such as roast pheasant, partridge, venison or mushroom risotto, but be quick, as we are expecting a flood of orders once Google’s search engine gets wind of it! Kerr-ching! 13% alc. Drink now-2028.

Press review:

The Wine Advocate: “Aged in used 500-litre oak barrels, the 2018 Syrah is pure, fresh and smoky on the deep and concentrated yet elegant nose. Damned fascinating! On the palate, this is a silky textured, refined and elegant, juicy and persistent red with intense and juicy fruit, very fine tannins and great balance. Very, very long. This is one of - if not the - finest Syrah I have ever tasted from limestone soils. It's the best buy in 2018. Organic. Drink now-2035.” 95 points
