It is a funny word. What is? It is. How so? As in, it’s raining, what is raining? It is. What is? You know… it! Well, whatever it is, this wine has it. I think it’s when all the elements fuse into one. There are wines that have numerous working parts, but fail to coalesce and then there are wines like this, where you don’t realise it’s a jigsaw, you just see the big picture. I know you just want to know what it tastes like, and I realise I’m stalling because I can’t easily describe it. The components have merged, you can’t see the seams, so it’s not like a northern Rhone Syrah, for example, where you can see black pepper and blueberry in discrete units of flavour, this is more sinuous and it weaves imperceptibly between black cherry, orange juice, black tea, cassis and winter sunshine. Sorry, but it’s not easy. What isn’t? It isn’t. What’s it? Oh for goodness sakes. 12.5% alc. Drink now-2028.
Customer comments:
“I was sceptical just because I never really thought/associated Austrian wine as a serious wine (the limitation in that regard is all mine). But this stuff rocks!” - Mr A.W.
